- Lot Description
A pair of original pastel drawings by Berta Hummel, Signed B. Hummel at lower right. These are the ORIGNAL ILLUSTRATIONS used to create numerous reproductions including postcards, posters and limited edition prints. Each depicts a child in her easily recognizable style, along with a yellow bird. Titles are "A Bird Came Flying Along" and "I Could Care Less Whether I Have Gold or None." Sight size of each is 16" x 22", framed to 24" x 32". Excellent visual condition and well framed. Provenance: From the estate collection of Donald Deeks (1931-2020) of Venice, Florida, who assembled what is purported to be one of the most important collections of rare Hummel figurines in existence. Blackwell Auctions has been commissioned by his family to sell the entire collection of about 2,000 pieces, many of them either unique or nearly so.
