Oil on panel portrait of a young woman titled “Nita,” signed and dated in the upper left “Herbert Schmalz, 1900.” The sitter is depicted in a detailed costume with embroidered purple vest and white blouse, wearing a gilt floral wreath in her hair, and holding a tambourine. Inscribed with the title “NITA” in the upper right. The artwork measure approximately 11 x 8inches and is presented in an ornate giltwood frame with scrolling foliate ornamentation. The reverse bears an old exhibition label identifying the artist, title, and medium. Panel and paint surface are in good condition with minimal craquelure. Light wear to the frame consistent with age. Please see photos for additional details.

Large, heavy, fragile, or high-value items will receive a UPS shipping quote. Buyers may request a list of recommended third-party shippers if preferred. All shipping costs are non-refundable. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
