Carved snowy owl sculpture by Inuit artist Manasie Akpaliapik from Ikpik, Nunavut and known for his detailed sculpture work and incorporating organic materials into his work. This piece is carved from white stone, likely alabaster or marble, with inset details including antler or similar material for the eyes and dark horn for the beak and talons. The sculpture is signed on the base. Sculpture is in good condition. | Please see photos for additional details. | | ABOUT THE ARTIST: Manasie Akpaliapik, born in 1955 near Arctic Bay (Ikpiarjuk) on Baffin Island, Nunavut, is a renowned Inuit sculptor. He started carving as a child, learning by observing family members who worked with materials like bone, ivory, and stone, and later refined his skills through formal study and apprenticeships. Large, heavy, fragile, or high-value items will receive a UPS shipping quote. Buyers may request a list of recommended third-party shippers if preferred. All shipping costs are non-refundable. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
