- Lot Description
Two-part sculpture by Cree artist Stewart Steinhauer titled ‘Two Souls Touching’. The work consists of an abstract open-form outer sculpture designed to hold a separate seated figure at its center. The main piece is carved with smooth, curved contours and features a circular opening. The removeable inner figure is in a simplified human form and is signed ‘Stewart S’ on the underside. Both pieces are signed as pictured. Minor wear surface wear is present consistent with age and handling. | Please see photos for additional details.ABOUT THE ARTIST: Stewart Steinhauer (born 1953) is a Cree sculptor from the Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Alberta, known for his large-scale granite carvings that explore themes of land, spirituality, and Indigenous identity. Working primarily in locally sourced stone, he creates bears, turtles, and symbolic forms with a focus on healing and connection to the land. Local pickup is available by appointment at our Ferndale, Michigan facility. Pickup or shipping must be scheduled within 15 business days of the invoice date to avoid storage fees.
