- Lot Description
An exceptional antique Japanese porcelain Kutani console bowl hand painted showing a couple wearing traditional dress by the beach with stylized prunus tree providing cover. Two cranes provide the good fortune and longevity blessing. The man and woman are elaborately decorated and additional gilding to draw attention to their dignity. The rim is decorated with flowers, geometric shapes, and jeweling on green ground, suggesting Aesthetic Movement influences. The scene blends traditional and modern ideals. The bowl is marked with the Kutani inscription, dating it to late Meiji period.
