A charming, naive view of New York City along the Hudson or across from Brooklyn. There is no information about the artist Dorothy Deer, but she was most likely an amateur, possibly an art student. The painting is dated which most people believe is 1959 but which we think is 1939. What makes that so interesting is that the World's Fair was held in New York City that year. Was there a connection?
A friend offered further elucidation of this lovely scene: “View of Lower Manhattan from Fulton Ferry Landing (Old Fulton St.), Brooklyn. Woolworth Building and 40 Wall Street centered; Brooklyn Bridge at right.”
This painting has become quite exciting.
Framed; signed lower left.
