- Lot Description
This Super Bowl XIV print by Merv Corning (1926 - 2006) is the version you want. He made at least 2 for that 1980 game but this one is the rarer and is NOT the photographic offset edition more readily found. The legendary catch by John Stallworth would be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated of January 28, 1980. Corning captured it for this limited edition of 300.
Corning received many commissions from the NFL to produce art work commemorating the games. His paintings and prints are coveted by collectors, NFL players and fans, and museums. He covered other subjects than sports, and for that reason is found in museums and other institutional collections.
Matted, glazed, framed. Signed and numbered in pencil.
