- Lot Description
Cloth hardcover with title, author's last name, and publisher's imprint in black on the spine, and an illustrated paper label on the front board in red, yellow, and green. Cream endpapers with illustration. Baum actually published this book prior to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and introduced some ideas and characters that he would eventually rework in future books. This copy bears the publisher name of The Reilly & Britton Co which was renamed Reilly & Lee the year following the copyright date of 1918. Thus this version is quite rare and collectible.
