Reichental is regarded as one of the most influential Eastern European modern artists having painted and taught with Marc Chagall (1887-1985) from 1917 to 1919 after being a Russian POW for serving in the Austro-Hungarian army in 1916. Reichental experienced a prosperous career beginning in 1921 until World War II when his family became the victim of religious persecution traveling through Europe to escape the Nazi's.
