Brunk Auctions would like to thank Dr. Fred Meijer for his research on this painting based on photographs. He states that his opinion is that it is likely 18th century and a "(rather good) copy after a larger painting on canvas by David Teniers II, signed in monogram, which was last auctioned in Brussels in 1955." He provided the black and white photo that was from 1951, when it was auctioned in The Hague. He goes on in reference to the original, "Subsequently it was auctioned in Brussels in 1952 and, as said, in 1955. The provenance of the original was given as Marquess of Cypierre, 1834, and 'J.H. Fritz Henry' (more likely Fitz-Henry), 1877."
