circa 1755, large saucer dish in life-like colors with large spray of flowers, smaller sprigs, insects, butterfly, brown rim edge, 8-5/8 in., fine hairline crack to rim, loss of some glaze. Notes: "Bernard Watney was one of the first to appreciate the links between painting found on early English porcelain and decoration on Chinese porcelain painted in Europe. He put together an important collection of Dutch-decorated Chinese porcelain, and sought examples painted by as many different English hands as possible…".
