Presenting the Collection of Jerold D. Krouse of Natchez, Mississippi. With a discerning eye, he assembled an exceptional collection of Irish furniture and silver, as well as American furniture. A lifetime of collecting yielded the finest examples of carved George II and Philadelphia Chippendale, tables, chairs, chest-on-chests, and other furnishings, with a George Wicks tureen, a tea caddy set, and other museum quality silver objects. Philadelphia, probably Daniel King (1731-1806) or Daniel King, Jr. (1757-1836), 1760-1800, urn and flame finial over fluted tapered columns, spurred legs and ball and claw feet, 26 x 15-1/4 x 22 in.
Provenance: By descent in the Crosby family, Maine; Donald R. Sack American Antiques, Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania; Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Eddy Nicholson, sold Christie's New York, January 28, 1995, lot 1080; Christie's New York, January 16, 2003, lot 295; Alan Miller (with copy of receipt); The Jerold Krouse Collection
Note: A very closely related pair of andirons bearing the signature of Daniel King are in the collections of the Winterthur Museum. See Fennimore, Metalwork in Early America, catalog no. 54. The pair offered here have the additional detail of the flame finial at the top of the urns.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
