Presenting the Collection of Jerold D. Krouse of Natchez, Mississippi. With a discerning eye, he assembled an exceptional collection of Irish furniture and silver, as well as American furniture. A lifetime of collecting yielded the finest examples of carved George II and Philadelphia Chippendale, tables, chairs, chest-on-chests, and other furnishings, with a George Wickes tureen, a tea caddy set, and other museum quality silver objects. London, 1749, oval form with ornate openwork decoration, pierced with trim of grapevine, satyr masks, and panthers licking grapes, hinged scroll handle with head of Mercury, dramatic shell feet headed by masks of Ceres, central base engraved with coat of arms, marks for Edward Wakelin, .925 fine, 96.86 oz. T., 11-1/4 x 13 x 14-1/2 in.

Note: The arms are those of Sykes of Sledmere, County Yorkshire, probably for Joseph Sykes, twice Mayor of Hull, deputy lieutenant for the East Riding 1723, who married in 1754 Dorothy, daughter of Nicholas Twigg. She died in 1796 and he in 1805. His son was created baronet in 1783.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
