Trees in a Winter Landscape, circa 1928-1930, signed lower right in Latin "Iw. F. Choultse", oil on canvas, 21 x 25-1/2 in.; original painted wood and composition frame, 30 x 34 in.
According to Vadym Goncharenko, of the ChoultsÌ© Foundation, this painting was created after the artist emigrated to Paris, France in 1920. During the period of 1928 through 1930 the artist actively worked with many galleries in the United States. The formal name of this painting is not known at this time but it was confirmed as being exhibited at John Levy Galleries in New York.
