circa 1900, inscribed verso "Queen Edna-Rash-Ra/American Indian by Lee Moorhouse/ca. 1900/(platinum print)", 8 x 6 in.; natural brown wood frame, 15-1/2 x 13-1/4 in.; together with an illegibly signed photo of a Cree Indian Chief, possibly a platinum print on heavy paper, 8-1/2 x 6-3/4 in.; natural brown wood frame, 15 x 13-1/2 in.
Note: Major Moorhouse (1850–1926) of Pendleton, Oregon, was an Indian agent on the Umatilla Reservation in Oregon. A large collection of his work is in the collection of the Special Collections & University Archives of the University of Oregon Libraries. According to the Archives, "From 1888 to 1916 he produced over 9,000 images which document urban, rural, and Native American life in the Columbia Basin, and particularly Umatilla County, Oregon. Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
