Our May 28th auction features the finest names in American furniture, paintings, and decorative arts, from Duncan Phyfe and Michael Allison to Thomas Moran and Albert Bierstadt. The lots on offer are a single owner collection of museum quality New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Baltimore furniture, important Hudson River School paintings, and the finest examples of complementary decorative arts, all from Iris Court in Moultrie, Georgia. - Lot Description
possibly American, possibly late 17th/early 18th century, brass and bronze alloy body, iron bail, scored linear decoration surrounding exterior, exterior of body, and legs rusticated, 10-3/4 x 12-1/8 x 12 in.
Provenance: Virginia F. White Interiors, Atlanta, Georgia, December 1987 (accompanied by copy of receipt for $1,500); The Furnishings from Historic Iris Court: An Important Edward Vason Jones Interior
Note: According to consignor notes, this cauldron was found at Plattwood Farm, a 17th century farmhouse in Deep River Connecticut. Similar examples were featured in the catalog of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts 1983 exhibition America Begins.

Purchased items will be available for pick up or shipping from our Asheville, North Carolina auction facility within ten business days of the auction, or will be assessed a storage fee of $5.00 per day, per item. Purchaser agrees that packing and shipping is done at the purchaser's risk and that the purchaser will pay in advance all packing expenses, materials, carrier fees and insurance charges. At our discretion, items will either be packed by an agent such as a packaging store or Brunk Auctions. Please allow two weeks for shipping after payment is received. Shipment of large items is the responsibility of the purchaser. We are happy to provide names of carriers and shippers if a purchaser so requests. Brunk Auctions will have no liability for any loss or damage to shipped items.
