- Lot Description
A captivating Bird of Paradise bowl by Los Castillo, handcrafted in Taxco, Guerrero—Mexico’s legendary capital of silverwork. Created in the 1960s, this decorative centerpiece features a stylized bird with brass crest and tail, perched gracefully on the rim. The body and conical pedestal base are richly inlaid with deep green malachite, contrasting beautifully with the silver-plated brass bowl.
Renowned for its long-standing silver mining tradition and its legacy of master artisans, Taxco emerged as a global hub for fine jewelry and decorative arts in the 20th century. The Los Castillo workshop played a pivotal role in this movement, blending traditional materials with modernist and nature-inspired designs.
This bowl is stamped Los Castillo / Taxco / Mexico / Plateado / TA-01 / #509 and displays light wear consistent with age. A true testament to Mexican craftsmanship and mid-century design innovation.

Local pickup is welcomed, please call in advance to setup an appointment and ensure the items are paid for before picking up. For out of state buyers we can provide shipping quotes or provide a list of shippers, we do not pack anything ourselves but we can drop off the pieces to a shipping store such as UPS or FedEx and arrange shipping with freight companies such as Plycon, Craters & Freighters, Tramo, Cube, and others.
