- Lot Description
A rare and whimsical pair of armadillo salt and pepper shakers by renowned Mexican designer Emilia Castillo, handcrafted in Mexico during the 1980s. Made of matte black porcelain with inlaid pure silver, these sculptural pieces reflect Castillo’s iconic blend of nature-inspired design and fine craftsmanship.
Each shaker is modeled after an armadillo, with geometric silver inlay mimicking the texture of the animal’s plated shell. Expressive details like the pointed ears, curled tail, and stylized snout add charm and character to these functional objects.
Hand-signed on the underside:

Vintage condition with normal signs of wear. Original rubber stoppers intact and functional.

Local pickup is welcomed, please call in advance to setup an appointment and ensure the items are paid for before picking up. For out of state buyers we can provide shipping quotes or provide a list of shippers, we do not pack anything ourselves but we can drop off the pieces to a shipping store such as UPS or FedEx and arrange shipping with freight companies such as Plycon, Craters & Freighters, Tramo, Cube, and others.
