- Lot Description
An adorable and rare vintage set of penguin-form salt and pepper shakers designed by renowned Mexican artist Emilia Castillo. Handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico during the 1980s, these sculptural pieces are made of finely glazed porcelain with inlaid accents in pure silver (plata pura). Each shaker features a stylized penguin figure with smooth black surfaces, subtly curved forms, and minimalist detailing that showcases Castillo’s modernist sensibility.
The set is fully signed on the underside: "Emilia Castillo / Plata Pura / Mexico", and includes original plastic stoppers.
Measurements:
Taller penguin: 3 inches high × 1.50 inches wide × 2 inches deep
Shorter penguin: 2.50 inches high × 1.50 inches wide × 2 inches deep

Local pickup is welcomed, please call in advance to setup an appointment and ensure the items are paid for before picking up. For out of state buyers we can provide shipping quotes or provide a list of shippers, we do not pack anything ourselves but we can drop off the pieces to a shipping store such as UPS or FedEx and arrange shipping with freight companies such as Plycon, Craters & Freighters, Tramo, Cube, and others.
