- Lot Description
English or American mid 19th century profile portrait of a woman with dark hair and coral earrings, wearing a burgundy dress with white collar, against an indistinct dark background. Unsigned. Old label en verso of stretcher for the Murfreesboro Antique Shop, Polk Hotel, Murfreesboro, TN, with inscription "English 19th cent". Molded giltwood frame. Stretcher: 24 in H x 17 1/2 in W. Frame: 29 1/2 in H x 23 in W.
Condition
10 in area of repair extending from upper background into subject's hair; 1 in square patch in dress area near upper arm. 1/2 inch scratch to upper left quadrant. Lined. Frame is not original and has been regilt.

By descent from the estate of consignor's late mother in law, who acquired it in Middle Tennessee.
