- Lot Description
Three (3) boxes including: one (1) Symphonion music box case, Rococo style, having relief carved figure, scroll and shell decoration to exterior and the original Symphonion lid insert to interior, but lacking musical works, early 20th century; one (1) English Georgian 19th century square inlaid marquetry box with domed top, and one (1) English Georgian 19th century brass-bound mahogany lap desk, fitted interior with green leather writing surface, pen tray and ink bottle well, brass shield escutcheon to the top and around the keyhole. Ranging in size from 6" H x 5 3/4" W x 6 1/2" D (smallest box) to 11" H x 18 1/2" W x 15 1/2" D (Symphonion case).
Condition
Symphonion box with overall general scattered wear, abrasions and losses, lacking musical works. Inlaid dome top box with losses to veneer to left side of top, overall good condition. Lap desk with expected overall use wear, minor shrinkage and abrasions to case, interior with wear and minor paint touchup to pen tray, top left side of writing surface with separation at joint.
