Four (4) items signed by author Eudora Welty (Mississippi, 1909-2001). 1st Item: 1926 edition of "Meh Lady", the yearbook of The Mississippi State College for Women where Welty attended from 1925 to 1927. Folio. Signed by Welty 3 times, twice under photos of her (Yearbook Staff and Drama Club) and once on the inside front cover. The yearbook originally belonged to a Freshman classmate of hers. 11 in. x 8 in. 2nd Item: THE OPTIMIST'S DAUGHTER, Franklin Library, 1980. Signed by author Eudora Welty on the third free endpaper, with tissue guard. Octavo, 194 pp. Red leather, gilt stamped designs on covers and spine; page edges gilt, with red satin page-marker ribbon. Prefaced by "A Special Message to Subscribers from Eudora Welty". 8 3/4 in. x 6 in. 3rd Item: THE OPTIMIST'S DAUGHTER, New York: Random House, 1972. Signed by Welty on title page, as well as inscribed to a friend on the half title. 8vo, 181pp. 1st Edition/1st Printing in unclipped jacket; stated First Edition with appropriate number line. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 1973. 8 1/2 in. x 5 1/2 in. LOSING BATTLES, New York: Random House, 1970. Inscribed and dated 1973 by Welty on front endpaper. 8vo, 437pp. First edition, later printing in unclipped jacket. 8 in. x 6 in.
1st Item (Yearbook): Very good overall condition; title page loose but present; typical yearbook signatures and writing throughout. 2nd Item (Franklin Lib. Optimist's): Unread, bookseller's pencil note ffep. 3rd Item (Random House Optimist's): Very good w/ light toning, unclipped jacket with chips to bottom of spine and front; bookseller's pencil note. 4th Item (Battles): Very good w/ owner's bookplate; slight spotting to edges; Jacket unclipped with toning to top, 1/4-inch tear to spine with chips.
