- Lot Description
5 (five) European watercolor on wafer miniature paintings including 1 titled "La Reine a la Toilette" depicting a woman at dressing table, having her hair styled; 1 portrait of a woman with tight curls and white dress with blue sash, c. 1800; 1 oval portrait depicting Madame de Pompadour, reclining, after the oil portrait by Francois Boucher; and 2 small portraits of women in hats (one illegibly signed, F--). Paintings ranging in size from 1 1/2 in. diameter to 3 1/4 in. x 2 in. Frames 2 in. x 2 1/2 in. to 6 in. x 5 in. First item appears to date from very early 19th century, other items late 19th to early 20th century.
Condition
Portrait of lady in white dress has some tiny dark spots to face. Painting after Boucher has a tiny flake left center background. Signed portrait of lady in hat has a tiny flake to glass with dark grime settled inside.
