- Lot Description
Set of six (6) gilt and polychrome porcelain dessert plates of Papal interest, having cobalt borders with scalloped rims and floral decorated fields; crossed-keys Papal crest in center. Marked with Pirkenhammer 1918-1938 Czechoslovakia mark and "Manufactured For His Holiness Pope Benedikt XV. Ano 1915." 9" Diameter.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville collection. Consignor's mother inherited the plates from her uncle, who served at an attache level at a European U.S. military post, about 40 years ago.
Condition
All in excellent condition, very slight wear to gilt.
