After Giovanni Francesco Romaneli (Italy, 1610-1662) oil on canvas painting, "The Cumaean Sibyl," depicting the Greek prophetess seated under a tree and resting on a column, holding a Latin book and gazing downward, 19th c. or earlier. With partial Henry Graves & Company label affixed to back of stretcher. Housed in a deep cove molded and carved gilt wood and gesso frame. Sight: 18 1/8" H x 14 1/2" W. Framed: 26" H x 21 3/4" W. Note: The Henry Graves & Company label affixed to stretcher reads "...Dealers In Works Art to Her Majesty the Queen," in reference to Queen Victoria, which dates the label to 1844-c.1901. Graves became sole proprietor and namesake of the firm in 1844 and Victoria died in 1901.

Some paint exfoliation including above the subject's head, to the right of the column, and to the lower left corner. With Minor rubbing to the stretchers. Scattered areas of loss and repairs to the frame.
