- Lot Description
Ben Shahn (American/Lithuanian, 1898 -1969) serigraph poster titled "He Says NO to Civilization and Survival." This satirical, pro-Lyndon Johnson poster made during the Presidential campaign of 1964 depicts a caricature of Republican candidate Barry Goldwater wearing a diaper and trying to put his foot in his mouth, surrounded by Goldwater quotes. Signed "Ben Shahn" in pen lower right and numbered 231/500. Unframed. 27 3/4" H x 21 3/4" W.
Condition
Approximate 4 1/2" band of toning along the upper margin, minor losses to the upper left corner and upper left margin, and some creasing throughout.
