- Lot Description
Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008) impressionist watercolor on paper coastal scene, depicting a verdant shoreline with sailboats in the distance. Signed and dated '68 lower right. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight: 16-1/2" H x 22" W, Frame: 23-7/8" H x 29" W. Carl Sublett studied Art History at the American Academy in Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and the Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville.
