American coin silver 4-piece tea service attributed to Edward Rockwell of New York, circa 1810, including tea pot, cream jug, sugar bowl and waste bowl, each with lobed body and band of grape and leaf decoration to side of body, repeating on the raised foot. Tea pot and sugar bowl have pomegranate finials, and all pieces except the waste bowl have hollow C form handles. Waste bowl has gilt interior. Teapot: 10 1/2"H. Overall weight: 58.72 oz troy. Note: A soup tureen by Edward and Samuel S. Rockwell is in the collection of the Museum of the City of New York. Edward Rockwell was active as a silversmith by himself from 1803-1814, and was joined by Samuel in 1815.
Scattered minor dents up to 1/2". Both the cream jug and sugar bowl have repairs at handles. Small loss to horn insulator on the teapot handle. The lid to sugar bowl does not sit snugly. Foot of the waste bowl is slightly out of round. Finials on sugar bowl and teapot possibly repaired.
