- Lot Description
Giltwood looking glass for the American Market, featuring a figural eagle raised on an acanthus leaf and flanked by urns, surmounting a cornice tablet with swag and rosette, and a band of acanthus leaves, over a rectangular plate of glass. Two fluted side columns with acanthus leaf wraps, each having rosette blocks at top and base. 49"H x 27"W x 4"D. Likely English for the American market, early 19th century.
Condition
Overall good condition with replaced glass and backboards. Urns possibly replaced. Center tablet with an element of swag carving missing, wear and scattered losses to gilding up to 3/4" on sides and on rosettes, scattered small losses to carved elements.
