- Lot Description
French school oil on canvas painting titled "Drapeaux de la Garde Republicaine" depicting a sequence of flags for the French Republicaine Guard displayed on an interior wall with associated time periods inscribed below and two guards standing in front. Signed "GTh" lower left corner. Label from Brunk Auctions, Asheville, NC affixed en verso. Housed in a giltwood frame with acanthus leaf and bead course decoration. Sight: 14 1/2" H x 17 3/4" W. Framed: 20" H x 23 1/4" W. Late 19th Century. Note: This work was purchased at auction in 2018 from the Collection of Daniel Bibb, Atlanta, GA.
Condition
One patch visible en verso and three areas of inpainting visible under UV light inspection. Largest area approximately 1" to center. Overall light craquelure. Frame with natural wood shrinkage having scattered repairs.
