Gustav Klimt (Austrian, 1862-1918), Der Tod und das Leben or "An Allegory of Death and Life," plate 18, collotype in color, mounted to heavy cream wove paper, from Eine Nachlese, Klimt and Eisler, Vienna, Austrian State Printing Office, 1931. Numbered 60/150 lower left, in pencil. Float mounted on a black mat in a wide gold molded frame, under plexiglass. Sheet 18 5/8" x 17 3/4". Frame 36" square. From the overall edition of 500 copies of the Eine Nachlese ("An Aftermath") portfolio (there were 150 copies in French and 150 in English, 200 in German) showing 30 of Klimt's most celebrated works, several of which were destroyed in the war.
Not examined out of frame. Sheet appears excellent. Some light scratching to plexiglass and a few scattered minor spots of wear to frame.
