- Lot Description
Louise Dahl-Wolfe (American, 1895-1989) silver gelatin print depicting the hands of the artist Meyer Wolfe (Tennessee/New York, 1897-1985), her husband, as he draws on a lithography stone, c. 1930s. Housed in a contemporary black metal frame with cream mat. Unsigned. Sight: 7 1/4" H x 9 1/4" W. Framed: 12" H x 14" W. Note: Although the lithograph shown here being worked on by Wolfe remains unidentified it likely belongs to the series of approximately fifteen prints he created depicting the lives of African Americans in Nashville during the Jim Crow era. This auction includes fourteen lithographs from the series.
Condition
With scattered, minor scratches and losses, largest to left hand between middle and index fingers, 1 1/4" L.

The estate of Dr. Lawrence Wolfe, by descent from his uncle, the artist Meyer Wolfe.
