- Lot Description
Pair of Irish George I open armchairs, walnut with oak secondary, each having a shell and rosette carved pediment over a leaf-carved, vasiform splat with shaped horizontal stretcher, leaf carved arms ending in volute handrests. Seat rail with leaf and floral carving at center; drop-in seats covered in dark brown hide or leather and stuffed with horsehair; shell and leaf carved cabriole legs with paw feet. Overall: 40 1/2 in. H x 30 in. W. x 22 in. D. Seat height 16 in. Circa 1725.
Condition
First chair: Losses to leaf carving and a C-shaped deep scratch on splat. Scattered veneer losses up to 1 in.. Some wear and losses at knees. Second chair: Repair to crest rail. Scattered veneer losses up to 2 in., most noticeably along one stile near center back and to area where stile joins the seat. Scattered carving losses including to splat, and seat rail floral carving. Repair to one knee.

Payment must be received no later than five (5) days after the sale.
Unless you are a known customer of Case Auctions, payment for all gold, precious metal, and gem lots must be made by bank wire transfer, ACH, certified bank check, or money order. No exceptions.
If you pick up your lots from any of our galleries, Tennessee state sales tax will apply. Sales tax will only be waived if you provide a valid resale certificate from your state of residence.
If paying with a credit card, a 3.5% credit card processing fee will be applied to the final sales price (i.e. hammer price + buyer's premium + applicable taxes). If you have a credit card on file with Case, any winning bids will be automatically charged (up to $3000) along with applicable fees 72 hours after you receive your invoice unless other arrangements have been made.
