Department of the Interior Bounty Land certificate for 160 Acres. Handwriting indicating it was issued May 23rd, 1856 to "David Strong / Private / Revolutionary War"; numbered 26346. Engraved certificate by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson Co., of New York featuring a vignette of the United States Capitol building at top; a standing George Washington with sword; a uniformed sailor with American Flag; Portraits of Secretary of the Navy John Dobbin and President Franklin Pierce. Signed by Commissioner of Pensions J(osiah) Minot and D(aniel) T. Jenks. Uncancelled. Behind glass in wooden frame with taupe mat. Sight: 8 1/2 in. H x 11 in. W.; Framed: 12 3/4 in. H x 15 in. W. Note: Congress passed legislation on March 3, 1855 providing a grant for 160 acres to all veterans who served at least 14 days in the American Revolution, or to their widows or minor children.
Even toning. Repaired vertical fold split. Chipping to extremities, largest is 3/4 in. L along upper edge along fold. Not examined out of frame.

Unless you are a known customer of Case Auctions, payment for all gold, precious metal, and gem lots must be made by bank wire transfer, ACH, certified bank check, or money order. No exceptions.
If you pick up your lots from any of our galleries, Tennessee state sales tax will apply. Sales tax will only be waived if you provide a valid resale certificate from your state of residence.
If paying with a credit card, a 3.5% credit card processing fee will be applied to the final sales price (i.e. hammer price + buyer's premium + applicable taxes). If you have a credit card on file with Case, any winning bids will be automatically charged (up to $3000) along with applicable fees 72 hours after you receive your invoice unless other arrangements have been made.
