- Lot Description
Russian egg tempura polychrome painted wood panel icon with gilt accents depicting "The Virgin of the Burning Bush" with a central image of the Madonna and Child surrounded by iconographic representations of the gospel writers or evangelists, angels, and scenes from the Miracle of the Burning Bush witnessed by Moses in the New Testament book of Exodus. With Russian inscriptions describing the content throughout. Unframed. 14" H x 12 " W x 1 1/2" D. 19th century or earlier.
Condition
Some craquelure to center, cohesive with age. Some chipping along edges. Very slight areas of retouching visible under UV light inspection.
