- Lot Description
Large Eastern Orthodox Christian icon painting, likely Russian or Greek, tempera and gilt on fabric laid to panel. The icon depicts three saints--likely the Three Holy Hierarchs Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom--below Christ as Salvator Mundi. With incised linework to background and border. 19th century or earlier. 14" H x 12 1/8" W.
Condition
With surface grime and scattered losses, especially to lower edge, plus craquelure and natural wood separation to panel.
