- Lot Description
A collection of ten (10) works on paper by Werner Wildner (American/Nashville, 1925-2004). All but 1 are unframed. Includes 1 watercolor on cardstock of a cloaked figure on horseback in a landscape setting, titled "Cloaked Figure," with exhibition label from Vanderbilt University's exhibit, "Light and Dark: the Fantastic World of Werner Wildner" held Oct. 4-20, 1999 affixed to verso; 1 drawing titled "Study for Obsession" (profile of a nude man with an iguana on his head and holding a flower); 1 charcoal study of a nude woman seated with head bent; 1 watercolor titled "Pan," (depicting a satyr with outstretched arms, titled lower center); 1 drawing of a figure in top hat holding a skull; 1 drawing titled "Jester"; 1 drawing of a gnome with large hat; 1 drawing of a bird wearing a hat; 1 framed drawing of a figure wearing a hat; and 1 watercolor of a dead tree in a landscape. All works are signed, and 5 are matted. Sight sizes range from 3 1/2 in x 4 1/2 in to 17 3/4 in x 13 in. Largest mat: 20 in x 16 in.
Condition
Tree watercolor has some small edge tears, staining and creasing. Some scattered light grime, mostly to mats, and some works have come loose from their mats. Light toning and fading to charcoal nude and "Cloaked Figure" watercolor. Exhibition label is adhered to back of cardstock of "Cloaked Figure."
