Ogden M. Pleissner (1905 – 1983)
Group of Eight Etchings
drypoint on paper
various dimensions
signed lower right
In discussing this complete set of rare etchings, Pleissner biographer Peter Bergh wrote, “Ernest Roth, a friend of Pleissner’s who was an etcher and printer, suggested in the early forties that he experiment with etchings or drypoints. At the time, Pleissner was painting almost exclusively in oils, and a change in medium appealed to him. He produced eight drypoints between 1942 and 1944, all but one, The Aleutians, with a sporting theme.”
