- Lot Description
Wall, William Coventry (British/American/Pittsburgh, 1810-1886), Western Pennsylvania Landscape with Stream, Household and Fishermen, c.1860s, oil on canvas, laid down on board, signed lower left, 21.25 x 35.25 inches, in a recent frame 30.5 x 44.5 inches. Provenance: The personal collection of Gary S. Grimes, Pittsburgh. Gary was an expert on Western Pennsylvania art, and especially the Scalp Level painters. According to his obituary, Gary grew up admiring this painting in his mother's home, and his fascination with it led to a lifetime of art appreciation.
Condition
