A high-head, hollow carved decoy with a "KWR" brand, and small "GSW" stamps on the bottom.
Ivar Gustav Fernlund was raised in Michigan where he began his career as a patternmaker. He was promoted to foreman and transferred to Hamilton, Ontario, where he took up waterfowling. As a professional patternmaker, his some of his earliest decoys, like this one, were finer than most carvers would ever accomplish.
Original paint with gunning wear, including rub on left shoulder.
