Biography: Claudio Bravo was born in Valparaiso, Chile on November 8, 1936. He studied with Miguel Venegas from 1947 to 1948. He lived in Spain from 1961 to 1972; he moved to Tangier and has lived there since 1972. Bravo is a painter, draughtsman, sculptor and lithographer of exhaustive accurate realism. He holds himself aloof from all art movements, past and present. Living and working in seclusion, he has created a distillation of vision that would be difficult for an involved member of society to imitate. People accurately place him in the world of super- realism. Using traditional methods of rendering light and shadow, which create a trompe l oeil illusion, Bravos works recall the American painters Harnett and Peto.
