DESCRIPTION: Tole covered sugar. Original design of red fruit with green yellow leaves on black japanned ground. Double scroll handle. Mid-19th century. PROVENANCE: Collected by the consignor's grandfather William G. Hilton who collected tole patterns, restored tole items and was one of the founders of the Esther Stevens Brazer Guild. His wife Catherine Kelker Hilton, was the daughter of Frederick and Annie Kelker and great-granddaughter of Frederick Kelker, founder of the family hardware store. MEASUREMENTS: 3-7/8" high. CONDITION: Wear to finish overall with some darkening. Dings to foot.
