Adam Lehr was born in Cleveland, Ohio and is known for his still life paintings. In his youth he worked as a house painter and sign painter, and later moved on to study with De Scott Evans and Archibald Willard in the 1870s. After friends provided the funds, he also worked with William Merritt Chase in New York in the 1880s. Lehr exhibited actively in Cleveland and occasionally in New York until about 1919.
