.46 rimfire caliber, 30" heavy octagonal barrel, S/N 16858 . With matching numbers throughout. The top flat of the barrel is marked No. 46. The right side of the nickel plated frame reads Ballard's Patent Nov. 5. 1861. The left side of the frame reads Merwin & Bray Agts New York . With additional patent date on the hammer. With globe type front sight and sliding peep tang sight. With plated forend cap and crescent buttplate.
The barrel is in excellent condition, with nearly 100% of the original blue finish remaining. The frame has a majority of its nickel finish remaining, with an area of wear on the lower right side. There are light areas of flaking on the forend cap and buttplate, revealing brass beneath. The forend has some light wear forward of the extractor. The bore and the action are in excellent condition.
