Chippendale Carved and Figured Dressing Table
American (Philadelphia), ca 1760. A Chippendale dressing table in walnut, having a replaced top over one long and three short drawers, all in figured walnut, the center drawer decorated with shell carving and applied scrolling foliate carving, having canted corners carved with fluted pilasters, a carved and shaped skirt. The cabriole legs have shell-carved knees, and terminate in claw and ball feet, back of interior case inscribed David Stockwell / 56 So. 16th St. / Phila. PA; ht. 28, wd. 34.25, dp. 20.5 in.
Age split to left side. Missing pull on upper drawer. Some missing pieces to applied carving on lower center drawer.
