Pattern 1851 cavalry jacket with brass shoulder scales attached, trimmed with "dragoon orange" taping and adorned with small general service eagle buttons. Right sleeve lining bears Numeral "2" size stamp and four dots utilized by Schuylkill Arsenal to indicate a Size 4 (we believe this jacket to be a 2 - current size 38.) An illegible inspector stamp also appears nearby. Body lining was removed at an unknown time and sleeve lining re-attached to coat body. Saber belt 'pillows' intact on reverse. A nice example with earlier pattern tape utilized during war years of 61-65.
