American, 19th century. A diminutive, smoke-decorated blanket chest, having a rectangular, hinged lid above a dovetailed case with a molded base, the interior with a till; ht. 16.5, wd. 33.25, dp. 18.5 in.
Provenance: Purchased by the consignor at North Branch Country Store of Milan, Pennsylvania in 1979.
Some surface wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use, including some scratches, nicks, and chips. Some wear to painted surface especially on front half of lid. Hinges reset due to repaired breaks on back edge of lid. Escutcheon possibly later. Hasp broken but retains interior lock mechanism. Missing feet.
