German, late 19th century. A patented Rakoczy Harp by Paul Ehrlich, housed in an upright walnut case, the playing mechanism consisting of a piano harp that is 46 in. high and 14 in. wide, to the front of the harp is a bedplate containing a steel comb with a piano hammer attached to the underside of each comb tooth. The piano harp has forty notes, thirty-two double stringed treble notes, and eight bass strings, with harp tuning shown on a wooden bar mounted to the top of the harp. Bedplate marked Monopol Ehrlich's Patent and case featuring an ebony plaque with gilt lettering reading RaKoczy Ehrlich's Musik Automat. The box includes one original 18.25 in. diameter disc, and four contemporary Hen's Tooth Discs (2014). Includes winding key; ht. 77, wd. 27.25, dp. 18 in.
