.41 Rimfire with 2 1/2" octagonal-to-round barrel with knurled turned ring at transition. Left side of barrel marked in three lines: FOREHAND & WADSWORTH / WORCESTER, MASS / PAT. MCH. 7, 1865. Serial number 241 under barrel and on extractor, also stamped inside both grips. Only 1,000 produced circa 1871-1890 Plated finish, walnut grips.
Good overall. Retains significant plating on barrel, little on frame, which shows evenly distributed pinpricking and surface oxidation. Mechanically functional, good bore. Grips good, with a crack the length of the left panel. A good example of a scarce derringer, made in small quantities during the last quarter of the of the 19th century.
