Continental, late 19th century. A Louis XV-style writing table in kingswood, the whole decorated with parquetry panels, having a shaped top with gilt edging over a single long drawer and kneehole, flanked by three graduated short drawers on each side, on cabriole legs with gilt bronze espagnolettes and paw feet; ht. 30.25, wd. 47, dp. 28 in.
Purported to have once belonged to U.S. Senator Stephen Benton Elkins (1841-1911) of West Virginia.
